Alberta, Prince Edward Island and British Columbia have selected students under the Provincial Nominee Program.
In 1998, the PNP was set up to help choose economic immigrants likely to settle in a nominated province and contribute to the local workforce and economy.
Provinces can participate in this Provincial Nominee Program because immigration responsibilities are shared between federal and provincial governments. Nominated candidates who get a local nominee letter must apply to IRCC for permanent resident status and if you have a provincial nomination by the concerned authority then it will increase the chances of approval.
In the federal Express Entry Canada pool, Candidates have a special advantage in PNP. Nominated Candidates who receive a provincial nomination automatically gain an extra 600 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System, increasing the chances of accepting an Invitation to apply( ITA ).
