IRCC held three Express Entry draws in the third week of October, respectively on October 24, October 25, and October 26.
On October 24, 1548 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 776 were invited in the first draw which was a Provincial Nominee Program-only draw. Express Entry candidates who are also nominated by the province automatically receive 600 additional points, this is why the minimum CRS score for PNP candidates is higher than average.
The second draw was held on October 25 in which 300 candidates were invited. It was a category-based selection draw for candidates proficient in the French language. The cut-off CRS score was 486 for this category.
On October 26, 3600 invitations were issued by IRCC. A minimum CRS score of 431 is required by the candidates to be invited in this category-based selection draw for healthcare occupations.
Upfront Medical Examination for Candidates is not Required Anymore
For Express Entry candidates, there is no need to get an upfront medical examination anymore before submitting their permanent resident application to IRCC as of October 1, this year.
A medical examination is still mandatory for Immigration to Canada from India. A blank document can now be submitted by candidates in the upload field of the Express Entry profile builder. IRCC will send further instructions regarding your medical exams later. You do not to complete a second IME if you have already completed an IME as part of a different application, or if you are already living in Canada.
What is Express Entry and Category-Based Selection?
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP), and the Canadian Experience Class are the immigration pathways that are overseen by the application management system known as Express Entry Canada.
For the evaluation of candidates in these programs, Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is used. Human capital attributes such as age, work experience, language proficiency, qualification, and occupation determine the ranking of a candidate to Get PR in Canada from India.
A certain score is assigned to every attribute and all scores are totaled up to a possible maximum of 1200 after combining. Candidates usually cannot score this high and minimum CRS cut-off scores range between 350 and 550. For permanent resident status, candidates with the highest scores are most likely to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
When IRCC introduced new categories earlier this year, CRS score was not a major factor in issuing ITAs. A new was passed in June 2022 which gives the immigration minister the authority to invite candidates who meet an economic need in Canada or help promote the French language.
Since June, candidates have been invited through category-based selection draws 10 times so far, summing up to 10,000 ITAs. The candidates who received the invitation were already in the Express Entry pool.
