In the latest round of published draw results, invitations were issued by 4 provinces from May 5 to 12 which were namely Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, and Prince Edward Island.
These recent draws were in addition to the Provincial Nominee Program-Only-Express Entry draw was held on May 10. With a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 691, 589 PNP candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in that draw.
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) was established in 1998 so that various provinces can attract suitable economic immigrants. Those who can integrate easily into the labour force of the province and establish themselves economically are known as economic immigrants.
Immigration of skilled foreign nationals would have remained within a few urban centers of Canada but provincial nominee programs helped spread the benefits of immigration throughout the country.
Provincial Immigration Results May 5-12
Ontario
In the past week, 5,196 candidates were invited by Ontario over 4 draws. On May 5, in a targeted draw for tech occupations, 1,863 candidates were invited by the province under the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream. A CRS score in the range of 475-482 was required by the candidates.
In a draw targeting healthcare occupations, 2,349 candidates were invited on May 8. A minimum CRS score of 427 was required by these candidates who were also in the Express Entry Human Capitals Priorities stream.
Two draws also occurred on May 9 from which the first draw was under Employer Job Offer: International Student stream. Province invited 584 candidates who required a score of 62 or higher in both health and tech related occupations.
From the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream, 400 candidates were invited in the second draw, which was also held on May 9. 43 was the minimum cut-off score required by candidates. The only candidates to receive invitations were those having job offers in targeted skilled trades occupations and having Canada as their country of residence.
Quebec
Under the Quebec Skilled Worker Program, 802 candidates were invited by Quebec to apply for permanent selection. Each candidate required above 571 which was a CRS cut-off score. May 1 was the date when the draw was held and the results were posted on May 4.
Even after obtaining a Quebec Selection Certificate, candidates still have to apply to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) if they intend to become permanent residents.
British Columbia
Under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program, more than 150 candidates were invited in 4 targeted draws on May 9. Candidates in the Express Entry pool were also included in the draw.
With a minimum score of 90 in the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), 93 candidates were targeted in the largest draw with tech occupations. The SIRS for BC PNP is equivalent to the CRS scores in Express Entry.
34 candidates in the childhood educators stream, 23 in healthcare occupations, and less than five candidates in other priority occupations were targeted by the remaining 3 draws. A minimum SIRS score of 60 in each draw was required by the candidates in every draw.
Prince Edward Island
Under the Labour and Express Entry streams of the Prince Edward Island PNP, 122 candidates were invited on May 4, in a small draw which was held by Prince Edward Island.
Prince Edward Island is the smallest Canadian province but it has one of the highest rates of admissions for newcomers under the Provincial Nominee Program.
