International migrants from 2019 to 2020 grew by 11 million, marking an increase of 0.1%, an approximation of the world population. The global migration stood at 281 million compared to 272 million in 2019, equivalent to almost 3.6% of the world population.
Migrants Workers
The migrant workers increased by 5 million to 169 million in 2019 from 141 million in 2017.
International Female Migrants
The international female migrants increased in 2020 by 5 million, which is 3.5% of the world population at 135 million compared to 2019.
International Male Migrants
The international male migrants increased by 5 million in 2020, which is 3.7% of the world population at 11.46 million compared to 2019.
Missing Migrants
While these international migration participants indicated a rise, there is another factor that had vice-versa statistics.
The missing migrants counted 3900 in 2020, recording a decline of 1500 compared to 2019 migrants at 5400.
Displaced Persons
Another aspect of the global migration was the “Displaced Persons,” which included Refugees, Asylum Seekers, Displaced Venezuelans, and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
In 2020 the displaced persons stood at 89.4 million, an increase of 4.8 million in 2019.
Internal Displacement Disaster
In the Covid session, international flights froze, but the internal displacement disaster increased.
In 2020 the internal disaster events volume was 30.7 million marking an increase of 5.8 million. The number stood at 24.9 million in 2019.
The Internal conflict and violence displacement events were 9.8 million globally in 2020 compared to 8.6 million in 2019.
