Five provinces invited candidates in the latest PNP results from August 26 to September 1, namely, Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and PEI.
Economic immigration candidates who are the most likely to integrate successfully into the provincial workforce are selected by the provinces through the PNP. These candidates are found by the provincial governments. The government either selects the candidates through the federal Express Entry application pool or accepts applications from the candidates who apply directly to the province.
Immigration is a shared responsibility between the federal and provincial governments, which is why the PNP exists. A specific number of nominations are allocated by the federal government each year to every province except Quebec and Nunavut. 105,000 new permanent residents are targeted to be admitted through the PNP by the end of 2023 by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
Provincial Immigration Results from August 26 to September 1
Ontario
Through the Master’s Graduate stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), 772 candidates received invitations on August 30.
It was a general draw in which no occupation was specified and candidates required a minimum score of 44. Candidates must be international graduates with an Ontario master’s degree to be eligible under this stream. They should have sufficient settlement funds, a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of 7 in an official language, and must have lived in Ontario for one of the past two years.
British Columbia
On August 29, the weekly draw was held under British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program. Over four separate draws, more than 150 candidates were invited by the province from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams.
In a targeted draw for tech occupations, the largest draw invited 102 candidates. A minimum score of 88 is required by candidates to be eligible. 20 healthcare professionals, 28 early childhood educators and assistants, and less than five people from other priority occupations were invited with a minimum SIRS score of 60.
Alberta
The results of a draw held on August 24 were released by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). Through the family connection and primary occupation in demand stream, 168 candidates were invited by the province. To be eligible for this stream, candidates should have an immediate family member already living in the province such as a parent, child, or sibling.
The candidates who were invited through this stream are all Express Entry candidates. They required a minimum of 302 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores in this draw.
Manitoba
On August 30, Manitoba held its first region-specific draw of the year. 288 candidates were invited to this draw in the Skilled Worker stream of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). Candidates need to declare that they are currently employed in Manitoba and already live, or intend to live, in a community outside of Winnipeg to be eligible for this stream. A minimum score of 600 is also required by them.
Prince Edward Island
On August 31, 22 candidates were invited by Prince Edward Island through the Labour and Express Entry stream of the Prince Edward Island PNP. People who are working in manufacturing, healthcare, construction, and food processing sectors were issued invitations by the province.
2602 candidates in total were invited by the province since September 2022, with 97% of all invitations issued in the Labour and Express Entry stream.
