British Columbia and Manitoba invited candidates in draws held from May 23 to June 2 under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
These draws took place around the same time new selection categories are announced for Express Entry candidates by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The Provincial Nominee Program candidates are also included in the new selection categories.
As stated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Express Entry PNP draws will continue to take place, and not all draws which are going forward will be for the new categories. Selection category draws have mirrored a lot of PNP streams.
Except Quebec and Nunavut, all of the territories and provinces of Canada held Provincial Nominee Program draws to invite candidates for specific National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes or in specific occupational fields.
There are PNP immigration streams specifically for healthcare or tech workers in most provinces. For healthcare workers, targets were held by British Columbia almost every week. The provincial and federal governments have immigration as a shared responsibility.
Provincial Nominee Program permits the provincial governments to nominate economic immigrants who the government feels will be able to economically establish themselves within the province. Candidates are also allowed to be efficiently targeted by the provinces, those who can help fill the regional job vacancies.
Results of Provincial Immigration Between May 23 to June 2
Manitoba
On June 1, 589 candidates are invited by Manitoba from three streams. Candidates in the category of Skilled Workers in Manitoba were invited from two separate categories through Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP).
262 candidates were invited with work experience from which 11 were in professional occupations in business and finance, 13 were in administrative and transportation logistics occupations, 44 were in legal and public protection support occupation, 21 were in professional occupations in natural and applied sciences, and 42 were in front line public protection.
In this draw, a score of 607 is required by candidates. The rest of the 240 skilled workers who were invited do not require any specific occupation was not required. These candidates require a minimum score of 699.
With minimum scores of 801, 31 Skilled Workers Overseas were also invited by the province, and 56 candidates were invited under the International Graduate stream.
On 25 May, a draw was held by Manitoba inviting 29 candidates additionally through the Special Measures for Ukraine Act. Ukrainian nationals are also targeted by this category who also meet the eligibility criteria for an MPNP immigration stream.
British Columbia
On May 23 and 30, PNP draws were held by British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program. As shown by the May 23 results, more than 140 candidates were invited over four draws.
In a draw targeting tech occupations, 103 candidates were invited to the largest draw from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams. For the candidates, a minimum Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) score of 90 is needed.
In a targeted draw, 42 candidates were invited from healthcare workers, early childhood educators and assistants, and other priority occupations stream. By each of the three draws, 60 was the minimum SIRS score that was needed.
From the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, Entry Level, and Semi-Skilled streams, 151 candidates were invited by the largest draw which was held on May 30. The minimum SIRS score ranged from 85 to 107 in this general draw.
There were 14 healthcare workers, 26 early childhood educators and assistants, and less than 5 invited from other priority occupations to these three draw categories were identical to those from the previous week. A minimum score of 60 was needed by the candidates.
