4800 Candidates Were Invited By IRCC in the Fourteenth Express Entry Draw of 2023 held in the first week of June, which was an all-program draw.
486 was the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required by the candidates. Draw earlier than this was held on 24 May in which 4,800 candidates were invited. A minimum CRS score of 488 was required for this all-program draw.
The all-program draw of April 26 had the requirement of a minimum CRS score of 483, this score is still higher than that.
IRCC Announced Category-Based Selection Draws
There has been the establishment of six new category-based selection criteria by the department for Express Entry candidates as per the news release which has been issued by IRCC on May 31.
New categories targeted the candidates with individual qualities or skills that support the economic goals of Canada.
Five category-based selection criteria are for those who have work experience in the fields of agriculture and agri-food, healthcare, transport, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) professions, and trades such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors.
The final new category is for candidates who are proficient French speakers. The department expects to begin holding category-based draws this summer but has not provided an exact date.
If candidates hope to receive an ITA in the targeted draws, they must be in the Express Entry pool.
Express Entry candidates will still be ranked by IRCC after meeting the category requirements and ITAs will still be issued to candidates with high scores. IRCC will continue to hold program-specific draws and all-program draws as needed as per the requirement.
Express Entry in 2023
Excluding the recent draw, over 13 draws in 2023, 49,948 candidates have been invited by IRCC. It is comparatively much more than the number of candidates invited between July-November last year. There was a Provincial Nominee Program Only draw which took place on May 10 for 589 candidates in which candidates nominated by a provincial government were already in the Express Entry pool. Two draws held in April were identical.
3500 candidates were invited in both all-program draws. In the April 12 draw, a CRS score of 346 was required by the candidates, and in the April 26 draw, a CRS score of 483 was required.
March was a remarkable month in terms of the number of draws and the number of candidates. Four draws invited a total of 21,667 candidates. In each draw, 7,000 draws were invited. Three of the four draws were all-program draws. 667 candidates were invited to the remaining draw was a PNP-only draw.
There have been four draws in the month of February in which one draw was for the candidates in the Federal Skilled Worker Program and three draws were for Provincial Nominee Program. Two all-program draws were held in January and in both draws, 5500 candidates were invited.
