Category-Based Selection under Express Entry
Sean Fraser, Canada’s Immigration Minister, said on May 31 that additional categories for new category-based Express Entry drawings have been finalized.
The announcement was expected following a modification to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act in June 2022. The amendment gives Canada’s immigration minister the authority to choose economic immigration candidates who have significant traits that match Canada’s economic aims or the minister’s responsibility to promote French outside of Quebec.
Because of job market estimates, the categories were developed in consultation with IRCC accomplices and partners, as well as national and regional state-run governments.
This program now includes the following categories:
➤ Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)
➤ Healthcare sector Profession
➤ Carpenters and contractors are examples of trades.
➤ Transportation Agriculture and agri-food jobs
➤ Strong command of the French language
